  • Castle in the Mountains: Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel

When someone says, “let’s go on a luxury escape,” my mind immediately always drifts to gorgeous Fairmont Banff Springs Resort. It is truly one of my favourite gems tucked away in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, which is why I’ve returned there time and time again to add a sprinkle of magic into my life. Let me tell you all about it, and why you should consider adding this to your bucket-list for luxury stays. Before I start, I want to mention that although the property itself has glowing reviews, one factor that can often be overlooked is the beautiful journey of getting there. Fairmont Banff Springs is nestled between vast mountains of Banff National Park, located within walking distance of Banff town center. Banff is an adorable little mountain town that offers everything from winter markets and festivals to pristine wildness, and it’s no surprise it’s one of the world’s most awe-inspiring mountain destinations. In the surrounding area, you can partake in an array of seasonal activities like dog-sledding, world-renowned skiing, hiking, white water rafting, and many more. To get to the Banff Springs property, it’s just a one and a half hour drive from Calgary (where the nearest commercial airport is if you’re planning on flying in), and the drive from the city, past the farmland, and into the mountains is simply breathtaking. Although Canada isn’t known for its castles, approaching the property you feel as if you’re about to pull up to a ball from your favourite princess movie (and the service that you’re greeted by reinforces that). Immediately you’re greeted with the option of valet parking, and can enter the lobby through the rotating doors where the on-location adventure begins. Checking in is an easy process, and my entire experiences there have always been not only welcoming, but personalized (and with extreme attention to detail… Including a note on my gluten allergy, where they offered me a free bottle of red-wine since I couldn’t eat the cute reindeer-shaped dessert that they had offered to other people staying with me during my hosted experience). Concierge service was only a quick text away, and if I needed anything at all, they were always immediate to help (for example- a friend had forgot a phone battery pack and they offered one for her to use for the duration of her stay). The staff is extremely attentive and welcoming, and I actually felt as if I made friends by chatting with many of them while exploring the property! Fairmont Banff Springs has 745 guest rooms and suites, and an impressive property to match. Although the surrounding area offers many activities that may be of interest, if you’re the type of person who prefers not to leave their vacation property, then Banff Springs is for you. In terms of dining, there are several options and locations on site available (I highly recommend the buffet-style brunch in the Vermillion Room, or if you’re feeling casual vibes then check out the Waldhaus Pub to feel like you’re stepping back in time to Germany). The Rundle Bar is an architecturally stunning place for a date-night drink, and if you’re a gin lover like I am, you can even try their house purple Rundle Bar Gin (that has similar notes to Empress in the sense that it too is made with butterfly pea flower). Aside from restaurants, you can join a guide (or explore at your own place) to discover the rich history of this historic site, including the several full-sized ball rooms (like the pic of me above on the left taken by my friend Justin Wu), the tales (… I don’t want to spoil too much but there mayyyy be a ghost story involved), and many gorgeous passageways. I went at my own pace, and am glad I did. Some other must-visit amenities if you’re staying are the spa (it’s just as amazing and relaxing as it sounds), as well as the pool (that is both in and outdoors). As an ex-competitive swimmer, I have a huge appreciation for a stunning pool, and this one exceeded my expectations in every way. For a full list of amenities the Fairmont Banff Springs offers, I’d recommend checking out their website , where they also mention their golf course, shopping, and more. The rooms themselves have a cozy and historic essence to them, with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. Although my was the least grand thing of my stay, I must admit, the beds and pillows pretty much guaranteed an amazing sleep, and in no way did they disappoint. The bathrooms were spacious (my friend and I both had full makeup and hair sets and still had room for both of us), and the views from our room felt like a poster I would have hung from my wall when I was a kid (seriously!). I’ve stayed at the Banff Springs hotel for both personal and work projects, including conferences, and I’m always excited to return. Staying here isn’t simply staying at a “hotel,” it’s a full experience that leaves you feeling relaxed, pampered, and rejuvenated (unless you party a little too hard at the Rundle Bar, haha). It’s one of the first places I always recommend to people considering staying in Banff, and will continue to be my favourite for the foreseeable future. (Oh, and if you’re looking for a place to get cute insta pics or TikTok content, this is definitely the place… I didn’t even get into the secret bookcase door at the Rundle Bar!) If you’re considering booking and it’s within your budget, this is your sign… Book it! Happy travels and enjoy your adventure! Cheers, Chloë

  • Fullerton Hotel Singapore: Luxury Singapore Stay

If you want to stay in Singapore in style, there’s no classier place than the luxurious Fullerton Hotel. From the second you step out of your ride and make your way up the red carpeted entrance, the undeniable (yet serene) essence of grandiose is apparent. From the towering fortress walls to the Italian marble floors, this location is a proud (and worthy!) attraction along the Singapore River. Upon arriving, my initial notes were that of history and scale- Doric columns spanned the borders among stately ceilings. The clicks of high heels as people scurried to their dinner reservations could be heard echoing through the spacious tiered lobby. After an effortless check-in, my bags were escorted up to meet me at my room, which met me with the same amount of allure. As I entered my room, I immediately felt a wave of ease overcome me (the type you get when you return home after a long vacation, despite mine just beginning). Vanilla and earth tones contrasted the high-tech appliances offered, offering old school charm paired with modern amenities. Aside from a Jacuzzi and rain-fall shower, I was pleased to find electronic curtains that opened to a private open space with just the touch of a button. Despite staying by myself, I immediately was wishing I had my partner to share the (unbelievably comfy) king bed with (but instead I had the heated toilet-seat and tush-dryer to myself). Not only were things tidy, spacious, and well stocked, but the staff were also friendly and were happy to answer all questions I had. One thing you know I always love is a pool with a view, and the Fullerton did not disappoint. I woke up for an early morning dip during sunrise, and was pleased to have the space to myself before beginning my day and exploring what Singapore had to offer. Something that pleased me about the Fullerton was that although concierge was quick to ask if I needed a taxi, there were also lots of amenities within walking distance, including the Marina Bay and many tourist and food options (I personally started my day with a Starbucks coffee and then biked around town). However, before I set out, I had to stop at their buffet breakfast, which I have to admit was absolutely delicious (as was the afternoon tea). Not only was there a wide selection of options, but the staff was eager to make anything I requested, and it became something I looked forward to each day during my stay. One thing I would be cautious of however is if you have an allergy (I am personally gluten-free) that there can be cross contamination or incorrectly labelled items, so use your best judgment before eating if this is something that affects you. I loved learning about the history of this magnificent heritage building, which I’ll let you discover on your own (but I’ll share a bit just so you know what you’re in for, haha). Built in 1928, it has had a variety of purposes before more recently evolving into the luxury hotel it is today, and each of them equally contribute to the story of how Singapore came to be today, so be sure to inquire during your stay! Overall, my stay was relaxing, exciting, lavish, and… well… fun. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and still occasionally dream of the hors d'oeuvres and espressos from afternoon tea. If you have the budget and want to invest in a stay that doesn’t disappointing, I’d absolutely add this to your list. Happy travels and enjoy your adventure! Cheers, Chloë (Oh, and P.S. check the prices before you grab anything from the mini-bar, because this place has prices that match it’s scale, but I’m sure you already know to do that ;))

  • Pomeroy Kananaskis Lodge and Nordic Spa

Sometimes you just need to escape the craziness of life… and when you want to do that, you’ll want to visit Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge and Spa. There’s a reason I’ve indulged in this place many many times, and it’s simply because it lives up to its reputation. This alpine resort is an hour out of Calgary in the scenic area of Kananaskis, and provides a luxurious stay that stands apart from some of the busier options you may find in Canmore or Banff. Instead of bustling streets and touristy areas, it instead offers a more private experience that is secluded from city-life (although this doesn’t mean it lacks any amenities). In the surrounding area there is a gorgeous golf-course, Boundary Ranch horseback riding (which was a lovely outing for one of the days), Nakiska Ski Resort, white water rafting, and (in my opinion) some of the world’s best hiking. The check in process is quick and easy, and the rooms are lovely. Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised to see an edible arrangement prepared for me with personalized touches, and my room hardly felt like a “hotel room.” My room was spaced out between two floors, each with their one bathroom, and the entire back wall was a glass window (with remote curtains) that opened to an enchanting mountain view. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were even set up great for hosting friends for a game or drinks, with plenty of space and lots of seating options. There are a few options for dining, and all of them were absolutely delicious. The brunch at Forte has a wide variety of options (with many gluten-free choices for my fellow celiacs), the Cedar Room has impressive fresh and home-grown options, and I was pleased with the drink options at the Blacktail Bar (of course I had to try a couple of their gin options). However, one of the true treats to this location is their full-service Nordic Spa… and in my opinion if you’re going out of your way to stay on this resort, you absolutely need to make sure you’ve got a day booked here. There’s something tranquil about an outdoor spa nestled in nature, and after every visit I’ve always left feeling rested and rejuvenated. The Nordic Spa offers a variety of pools, saunas, and steam rooms to hop between, and each of them offers something unique. My personal favourite was the eucalyptus steam room and the essential oil sugar scrub shower. If you’re brave enough, you’ll also have to try one of the icy pools to wake you up... (But be prepared for quite the jolt, haha). And, if you can time your spa visit for a snowy day, I can almost guarantee you’re going to feel like you’re living in a movie scene as the love interest in a rom-com (this also makes for a lovely date with your partner as well, or gift to a loved one). Be sure to book this in advance though as there is limited availability. If you’re looking for a vacation that gives you a well-needed reset, yet still has options for all levels of adventure, (and you’ve got it in your budget), Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge and Nordic Spa is that little slice of serenity you’ve been looking for. Happy travels and enjoy your adventure! Cheers, Chloë

  • Private Mountainside Cabin: The Cabin at Edelweiss Creek

I think something everyone should do at some point in their life is book a romantic weekend in a cabin with their lover. That’s exactly what I got the opportunity of doing at the cozy Edelweiss Creek Cabin, which is a lovely cabin escape tucked in the scenic mountain town of Golden. I’m definitely just making a guess, but I have a feeling Golden, British Columbia could turn into the next Banff… It’s got a long way to go, but its small town charm paired with the spectacular views and surrounding activities offers the perfect tucked away escape, and if you’re wanting an authentic Cabin experience, this is the place to visit. This was a few hours out of Calgary (just long enough to get through a well-made playlist), and was fairly straight forward to get to, and the host (who was lovely at communicating with us) set it up great. As you enter, you get into the mud-room/ bathroom entrance, and as you walk around the corner, the cabin reveals itself to you. A beautiful kitchen (with lots of appliances) leads into a cozy room with a wood-burning stove, and the decor suits that of a what you’d expect from a cute log-cabin (I personally loved the guitar and think the wolf-hide suited the space). Out the back is a deck and a hot-tub with a view that spans the snowy ski path carved mountains of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort (and I'm not going to lie, it definitely enticed me to want to ski). One of the fun things about this location is that the bed is in the loft, which you can roll a wooden ladder up to so you can climb in (and it’s also nice because the heat rises to keep it warm in the winter.) Although it’s not directly in Golden town, the location was nice in the sense that we had no direct neighbors, so felt comfortable singing and laughing loudly over board games with a bottle of wine, and Hamish even claims he saw a bobcat hopping through the snow in the yard area when he looked out the window (in face… he actually at first thought he saw a kitten that was bigger than a cat, with no tail and large paws, hahaha). Waking up surrounded by nature was lovely, but I have to admit, the easy to use americano machine truly stole our hearts (no need to venture into town to find a cafe)! Hamish and I spent the morning sipping coffee in the hot tub before finally deciding to get to our day, and we left feeling refreshed. This cabin hold a close place in our hearts, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have spent a weekend here! Next time you’re in Golden, instead of booking a hotel, consider adding this AirBNB to your list! Have safe travels and enjoy your adventure! Cheers, Chloë

  • Samsara Resort: Private Canmore Alpine Escape

Sometimes you want to go on vacation without it feeling like you’re leaving the comfort of your own home… and that’s exactly what you get when you stay at Samsara Resorts. Canmore is truly one of my favourite places to travel, not only for its proximity to so many amazing experiences like skiing, hiking, rafting, canoeing, and more, but also because it takes all of the quaint cuteness of a mountain town like Banff, but presents it in what I view as a “less touristy” way. The mountains are just spectacular, the restaurants are * chef’s kiss*, and it feels quieter that the 24 hour hustle and bustle of Banff, allowing for a more relaxing stay. This is what makes it such a must-stay-at location for me, and why I chose to spend my birthday there! For my March birthday weekend, I planned all of the typical mountain adventures to do in the area (such as skating on Lake Minnewakanka), however, one of the most exciting things for me was to get to stay in Samsara Resorts. I stayed in the “Gatsby Suite,” and it was just as rich and bold of a place as the name suggests. Driving up I was pleased to see the space offered its own private garage with access to the suite, which was nice considering the cold weather makes for chilly mornings starting the car if you park on a street. Entering the suite, it was immediately clear that space wasn’t going to be an issue. Being 2850 square feet and accommodating 12 guests, the suite felt like such a better option than if you had to rent out separate hotel rooms to accommodate a party of 12. Although I was just visiting with a few of my close friends, I easily could have fit more people, and I could see this space being ideal for a bridal party, or if a large family (or even a few families) wanted a place to stay for the week that was more practical than separating or getting multiple rooms at a nearby hotel. And not only was it spacious, but it offered all of the luxury to match. This suite has 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms (which all were large, and some even offered heated flooring), a full kitchen (equipped with everything we needed plus more, including an espresso machine), large flat-screen TVs in each bedroom, laundry, multiple living-room areas, and the best part, a private hot-tub (all spaced out over four stories)! Aside from the gorgeous and beautifully decorated space, one thing I especially appreciated was the attention to detail and responsiveness of out contact who we booked through. Upon arriving, I entered the room to it being fully decorated with “happy birthday” balloons, and the dining table set and ready for a birthday dinner. Any questions we had were just a text away, and always promptly answered, which overall made for a stress-free stay (+ double points for the private hot-tub to wind down in). On my birthday I enjoyed the luxury of feeling pampered in the space as the snow bucketed in fluffy flakes around us, and honestly I couldn’t imaging a more cozy way to spend a winter weekend with my loved one. If I’m completely honest, I wish this space was my home so I could live in it full-time (it’s seriously so cute). I would absolutely consider booking at this location the next time I head to Canmore with friends or family (the value is honestly so much better than spending it on hotel rooms, and you get so much more including privacy, which is so important to me). If it’s within your budget, consider this as your next stay for your après-ski, or as a home-like place to return to between hikes (or seriously, you could spend your whole vacation here if you really wanted). Happy travels and enjoy your adventure! Cheers, Chloë

  • Why Lake Louise Inn is the Perfect Base for Your Rocky Mountain Adventure

I’m going to share one of the biggest secrets to getting the most out of your mountain adventures, and it’s so easy I don’t know why more people don’t do it… Ready? Stay in the mountains. It’s that simple. I know this may sound like common sense, but for a lot of people, it doesn’t even cross their mind. And, a word of advice, it’s even better if you stay as close as possible to where you want to explore. Why? Well let me start with a little story. One of my favourite areas to hike is around Lake Louise and Moraine lake. The summer season boasts picturesque views, but the autumn is when the mountains really come to life. Around September and October the larch trees (an alpine deciduous tree that is found at higher altitudes) give a final show before losing their canopy by turning a vibrant yellow colour, and hikers flock from around the country to witness the spectacle (it’s called “Larch Madness” for a reason). One year when I was living in Calgary, I decided that I wanted to attempt a sunrise larch hike, so set my alarms for 2am so I could wake up before the crowds and drive out to the trailhead… And everything was going to plan until I arrived there just around 5am, and the parking lot to Moraine Lake was FULL and park workers were turning everyone AWAY. While I could have slept in, I instead woke up at an absurd time of the morning, dragged by groggy self to the my car, and set out on a flop of an adventure. The worst part? It could have all been avoided. (Do you see where I’m going with this?) Stories like this are just some of the reasons that staying at Lake Louise Inn is so amazing… Because yes. Location matters. But it’s not only the location that makes Lake Louise Inn so great, so let’s talk about it. Lake Louise Inn is one of my favourite resorts I’ve stayed at that is in such close proximity to so many iconic trail heads and lakes, which in turn makes sunrise adventures much more attainable (those few extra hours of ZZZs really help, trust me). Once you enter Lake Louise Village, you turn right immediately before the plaza, and the hotel appears shortly after on your right! It’s within walking distance (or a really short drive) from TrailHead Café (a post-hike essential), gas stations, and some smaller restaurant options, and the drive up to the lakes only takes a few minutes. Checking into my room, I was immediately taken aback by the amount of care and thought put into my room (a bottle of bubbles plus some munchies was left for Hamish and I), however, it was the room (and view) that really impressed us. The room we stayed was spacious and had more than enough room to accommodate the two of us. I’ve stayed here on multiple occasions and we’ve easily been able to fit in enough people to have a friends game night if needed (especially if you get one of the rooms that spans over two floors, which I reccomend). To the back area is the feeling of a serene, wooded area, and to the front of the building there is a gorgeous wooden gazebo that is perfect to be rented for events. The property is spaced out enough that it feels like you’re going for a gentle forested stroll by exploring the different areas. Furthermore, one thing I appreciated that it was removed from the busy touristy strip closer up to the lakes, so despite its convenient proximity, it still had a sense of peacefulness. All of my sleeps there have always been amazing, and I believe in part that was due to the fact I was at peace knowing that all of needs were within reach, including a delicious buffet breakfast (the food here is amazing)! I would like to personally thank the chef for continuously going out of his way to make me gluten free options, including a gluten free lava cake with fresh berries which almost made me tear up. I felt safe and reassured eating there with allergy, and absolutely appreciate the kitchen and chef’s diligence in doing so, it left me feeling very cared for. Although I wanted to try the pool (you know how I am about my pools), I unfortunately was not able to due to it being closed due to Covid restrictions, although by the time this is posted I am confident those will have fully lifted. However, it looked lovely and was also accompanied by hot tubs/ whirl pools (the next time I visit you know I’ll be visiting this first)! There are also complimentary seasonal activities like snowshoeing, mini golf, and bikes, which is great for families or people looking to stay active on and around the resort. Overall, I love Lake Louise Inn. I love its location, I love their staff, their chefs are phenomenal, and their rooms are lovely. It’s a great value to book there considering everything the surrounding area offers, and I’m already scheming my next visit. If you plan on spending time around Lake Louise or Moraine Lake, you already know where to book. Happy travels and enjoy your adventure! Cheers, Chloë

  • Triangel Boutique Hotel: The Ultimate Luxury Stay in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia

I’ve stayed at many hotels in my life, but it’s rare that I leave one without a single thing I would change… but that all changed after staying at Triangel Boutique Hotel . One word: wow. I had the pleasure of being hosted by Triangel Boutique Hotel recently, and all I can say is that I’m already dreaming of the next time I get the opportunity to revisit this amazing place. Every single part of my experience was spectacular, and I can’t stress enough how enjoyable my stay was (from the moment I arrived to the moment I left). To begin with, Triangel Boutique Hotel is located near Kranjska Gora, which is a cute little mountain town in Slovenia with many amenities and tourist attractions (I would compare it to the “Banff” of Canada!). From the hotel, you’re within a 30-minute drive from many stunning spots, like Lake Jasna, Vršič Pass, and even Lake Bled, which I recommend if you’re staying here (it’s that classic Slovenian postcard spot). You’ll find the property right as you’re entering town, and it's backed by the stunning mountain range of the Julian Alps (the view from our room was truly spectacular—I’ll attach a photo for proof). Upon pulling in, we were greeted at our car by the loveliest man who offered to help with our bags and made our check-in process enjoyable. He was quick to suggest lots of nearby adventures, including a short walk to a waterfall you can access directly from the hotel. This level of hospitality continued with every single encounter we had with the staff. After a tour of the property (which included a spacious dining area, a generous wellness center, and a stunning lobby), we were escorted to our room, where we were greeted with a bottle of house champagne. Of all the rooms I visited in Slovenia, this one absolutely took the cake. Our entire view-facing wall was comprised of windows overlooking the mountain range, with glass doors that opened to a full balcony. Our room, which I believe was the "Deluxe Room" on their website, featured a seating area, a large bed, a massive view-facing round tub, and a luxurious bathroom. But aside from the gold-plated accents and beautiful interior decor, what really struck me was the cleanliness of the space (and this isn’t something I say often). The room was spotless and sparkled from corner to corner (even the bubble bath shimmered!). In fact, the glass door to the bathroom was so clean  that I might have walked into it by accident (don’t worry, this is the best kind of problem to have, and yes, it resulted in even more giggles). It oozed luxury with humble features, and the traditional feel of the space mixed with modernity was refreshing. After getting settled, we headed downstairs for a five-course dinner with wine pairing. If you take one thing away from this entire blog post, it’s to eat dinner at their restaurant. Seriously. Triangel Boutique Hotel has the best  food I had during my couple of months in Slovenia. The ingredients were fresh, the food was beautifully plated, the dishes were creative, and everything was cooked to absolute perfection for every course in the five-course meal. I still dream of this meal and the local wines that were paired with it. This, combined with exceptional service from our server Jan, and the warmth from the kitchen staff—who even let us come up close and observe them preparing our meals in their open-layout kitchen—made for an amazing experience all around. This might sound dramatic, but it may have been the best meal I’ve ever had while traveling (and no, I promise I’m not paid to say this). The next morning, after our cloud-like slumber, the breakfast options were just as delicious, with both à la carte and buffet-style choices available. I truly believe this place deserves top marks in every category, with bonus points for the hospitality during our stay. If you can only stay at one place during your time in Slovenia, the experience of this hotel, paired with its proximity to so many amenities and viewpoints, makes it an absolute must-visit, and I’m grateful for my time there. Happy travels and enjoy your adventure! Cheers, Chloë

  • Fairmont Kea Lani Review: Maui’s Most Memorable Luxury Stay

Fairmont Kea Lani … Where do I start?! There’s so much I could say about how much I loved my stay here that it’s hard to know exactly where to begin. I’ve stayed at dozens, probably hundreds, of hotels over the last decade, but it’s rare to find one that excels in every category—culinary experience, rooms, amenities, property, and service. In my humble opinion, though, the Kea Lani doesn’t fall short in any area. It’s one of those rare resorts that gets everything right. The second you step foot on this property, you’re taken aback by its grandiose nature. The lobby floor glistens to reflect towering arches overhead, with cascading waterfalls welcoming you into the space. Ahead, a view so striking it looks as if a painter spent years perfecting every detail lights up the room, and you’re immediately immersed in what feels like a palace crafted by a mermaid. Architecturally, it’s clear that every detail has been thoughtfully considered, and the interior design was so stunning that it had me rethinking how I decorated my home. Rich wood tones framed by arches, lush greenery contrasted by simple white walls, and bright open spaces bring this place to life. After heading up to my third-floor room to drop my belongings, I was equally impressed to find it just as elegant and airy as the lobby. My suite opened into a spacious living room (with a well-lit bathroom to the left), which wrapped around to my incredibly comfortable king bed. The decor was modern and refreshing, with blue tones in the rug and tiling mixed with warm wood accents, creating the perfect ocean escape. Straight ahead, an expansive balcony with views of the pools, and further out, the ocean, flooded the room with light. I’m always a fan of a good ocean view, and this one absolutely delivered, offering the perfect glimpse of paradise right from my balcony. In the room, I found a thoughtful welcome gift featuring items from local vendors, as well as useful products like sunscreen and a beach bag for my time at the resort. After making myself a Nespresso (caramel cookie flavour… yum!) in the room, I set off to explore the rest of the property. When it comes to food, I have to say Pilina may just be one of my all-time favourite restaurants. Their commitment to sustainably sourced ingredients, their ability to capture the essence of the islands through each dish, and their deep connection with Hawaiian culture are all winning features for me, but above all, the food is simply delicious. Traveling with Celiac Disease can be a challenge, but, like other Fairmont properties I’ve visited, this wasn’t a problem here. The kitchen staff prepared my meals in a separate allergen-safe kitchen to ensure my peace of mind, which was so appreciated. I highly recommend the Spicy Wahine roll, which, along with the fresh carpaccio, was a favourite of mine. And aside from the food, the cocktails were equally impressive (the Mauka - Toward The Mountains was my favourite; you already know I’m a fan of a well-crafted gin cocktail). It wasn’t just Pilina that stood out; the buffet breakfast, the poke bowl from AMA, and drinks at the swim-up pool bar are also a must-try! On-site, if you want to stay active rather than just relax, there’s plenty to keep you busy. In the lobby, you can learn from and interact with Hawaiian cultural artifacts, there’s a spa (which, according to my friends, has amazing massages), a waterslide that spans from the top to the bottom pool (of course I had to try it), and you can even grab a snorkel and book a Hawaiian outrigger canoe experience—which I *highly* recommend. I talked about it in a previous blog post, but snorkelling holds a special place in my heart, and, in my opinion, Maui is one of the best places to do it. Right off the resort, with guidance from our canoe guides, we swam amongst graceful turtles, vibrant fish, and even spotted eagle rays—an experience etched into my mind that I’ll never forget. And if you’re interested in leaving the resort, we joined an environmental sustainability initiative hosted by the Fairmont for a skyline conservation project, aimed at restoring the island’s delicate ecosystem. It was such a meaningful experience to be a part of, and I love to see this happening. As much as I could go on and on about all the resort has to offer, what stood out most was the incredible service and warm welcome from the staff. From the second we stepped off the shuttle to the moment we rolled our suitcases back out, the sincere warmth and above-and-beyond attitude of everyone was evident. I had the opportunity to participate in several cultural ceremonies during my time here, and this was such a powerful reminder to the importance of the importance of connecting to the land, the culture, and the people around you while travelling. I learned a term during my time in Maui the phrase, "A Hui Hou," meaning, “Until We Meet Again,” and for the Fairmont Kea Lani, this rings so true. It’s not goodbye, it’s “see you soon,” and I’m hoping that day comes sooner rather than later. Happy travels and enjoy your adventure! Cheers, Chloë

  • Luxury Stay at the Fairmont Orchid: A Relaxing Hawaiian Escape

Some of my warmest childhood memories are of splashing in the waves and running across the sun-kissed beaches of Hawaii… Now that I think of it, I believe it’s where my love of the ocean began. From pointing out colourful fish while snorkelling with my dad to building sandcastles and spotting rainbows, I had no idea that these simple joys would spark what has now become a lifelong passion for travel and exploration. My family used to regularly vacation on the islands, but suddenly I’m twenty-six, and I realize it’s been more than a decade since I’ve visited… So when I got an email from the Fairmont asking if I wanted to take part in their FAM trip, I couldn’t turn it down. Within a couple of weeks of hitting “reply,” I found myself standing back where it all started, on the island of Hawai’i, but this time at a resort I hadn’t yet been to—the Fairmont Orchid . The Fairmont Orchid is about a 30-minute shuttle ride from Kona Airport, but it’s not one where you’ll want to nap the whole way. The landscape boasts unique rock formations made from lava, wild goats grazing amongst them, and even natural caves (keep an eye on the right for one), while our shuttle driver educated us on all of this during the drive. Before long, we arrived and were immediately greeted with fragrant leis, cool towels, and a lobby with a grand view of the ocean. Along our walk to the room, we were told about the hundreds of rooms the property has and the amenities it offers as well (such as the spa, which I’ll talk about in a moment), but it wasn’t long before the hunger from my flight started to kick in. So, after a brief bag drop in the room, I made my way to a sunset dinner at Brown’s Beach House, one of the on-site restaurants, before crashing into what I’d consider a perfectly comfortable bed. The rooms at this property are tidy and comfortable, but for me, it was the property itself and everything it had to offer that truly shone. Immediately upon entering my room, I was greeted with an incredible edible arrangement (featuring local foods like macadamia nuts), and the coolness of the air conditioning was a well-received relief after walking in the heat outside. My room had not one, but two showers to rinse off in, plenty of space in the bathroom, and a view that overlooked the paths that wove through the property, truly highlighting just how green and lush this location is. Once leaving the rooms (automatic doors open the hallways to the fresh air, which felt special), you’re greeted with flower-lined walkways that take you to several restaurants, the pool, a private beach nestled into a cove (making it the perfect calm spot for snorkelling or a morning dip), a coconut grove, tennis courts, a golf course, and more. If you’re looking for true relaxation, aside from the cabanas and multiple private resting spots, the spa is where you’ll want to visit. Here, I was treated to a lovely massage (all while being surrounded by birds in a cute private hut), with a waterfall babbling behind me. When it came to food, I’m happy to report that every single thing (and I’m truly not exaggerating) was absolutely delicious. From the fresh-caught fish I had the evening I arrived, to the honey-inspired luncheon (where we learned about the sustainability initiatives the property is taking to help the environment thrive), everything was fresh and packed with flavour. As someone with Celiac Disease, I was relieved to find that my dietary needs were not only taken seriously but were thoughtfully accommodated at every meal. I was provided plenty of gluten-free options, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure my dining experiences were not just satisfactory, but exceptional. I’ll be dreaming of those honey-infused macarons, their delicate sweetness, and those decadent chocolate brownies, rich and fudgy, until I find myself back here. The food was extremely fresh (picked straight from the Chef’s Garden, which we toured during our stay), and you could tell that a lot of thought and care went into every dish, every single meal. Overall, I can’t think of a better way to describe my time at the Fairmont Orchid than feeling welcomed. It’s a sense you get throughout the entire property. From the turtles sunbathing along the shoreline, to the giant manta ray I saw while snorkelling just off the cove, to the honeybees in the garden—the initiatives to connect with the land and Hawaiian culture, and to bring this experience to guests, are evident. I felt so grateful to experience it. I’m already dreaming of unzipping my poolside cooler, cracking open a can of passion-guava juice, and soaking in the sun at the Fairmont Orchid. Until next time, happy travels and enjoy your adventure! Cheers, Chloë

  • Discover Hotel Plesnik: A Hidden Gem for Wellness and Natural Beauty in Slovenia’s Logar Valley

One day, I’m casually scrolling through TikTok (as you do), and the next, I’m fervently searching the internet to find that unbelievably gorgeous, quaint seating area surrounded by a pool that I saw some girl dive into during her European travel vlog. Well, needless to say, BOOM—I found it (and better yet, I stayed there!!). Slovenia is brimming with beauty, and that goes without saying. Each corner unveils new landscapes, diverse cultural influences, and unique experiences, making this country special in my eyes (my few months living here were truly unforgettable). However, one spot that specifically stood out to me in terms of natural beauty is Logar Valley, where you’ll find today’s special stay: Hotel Plesnik . Hotel Plesnik epitomizes a relaxing wellness escape (and honestly, I think that’s something we could all use). Even the drive in is soothing. As I entered Logar Valley, the mountains opened up to a spectacular valley that looked like something from an opening scene of a movie. This narrow road leads you towards the mountains, past pastures of shaggy highland cows, and into the lush green land until you arrive at the little gem that is Hotel Plesnik. Since Hotel Plesnik is removed from most civilization, parking is easy in their open lot, and you’re immediately serenaded by the songs of birds and the tranquility of nature. During check-in, we learned about Hotel Plesnik’s zero-waste vision, which aims to harmonize with nature in all their services. For instance, when ordering dinner (which is locally sourced!), you need to place your meal order ahead of time so the kitchen knows exactly how much to prepare, minimizing food waste—a commendable initiative in a hotel. They have received a Green Globe environmental award, which they consider a logical step, given their commitment to Ayurveda-based practices and environmental sustainability. We stayed in the main building, which offered an impressive view of the wellness pool and the expansive, well-groomed fields. Since we visited in autumn, we were also treated to vibrant orange trees bordering the hills of the valley, which made for quite a sight (one comparable to that of a painting). Our room was quaint but perfect for everything we needed, with both a bathroom window facing the view and a balcony! The beds were very comfortable, and the interior design felt rustic yet welcoming, with wood accents and framed art complementing traditional elements in the decor. However, the real standout feature of this place was undoubtedly the wellness center. We expected a pleasant stay, but we left feeling as if we had just experienced a spa retreat. The wellness center was simply spectacular, and I can see why it would be an ideal spot for a yoga or mindfulness retreat. Entering the wellness center, you’re greeted by 70s-inspired architecture paired with stone and fun designs. Inside, you’ll find a temperature-controlled room with a conversation (or relaxation) pit, a jacuzzi, several types of saunas, tea, refreshments, and more. The best part is that the entire rear-facing wall is actually a glass window that opens up to the view, which includes an unheated outdoor pool for cool dips or an icy swim if you’re up for it. This pool doesn’t use chemicals, and there are fish swimming in it that are surprisingly sizable—I was expecting goldfish! I’d definitely recommend a quick dip during your relaxation routine. The next morning, we enjoyed an absolutely delicious buffet-style breakfast. There was a wide assortment of options, including many traditional Slovenian foods and drinks! My favourite was the fresh local young cheese topped with wild blueberry compote… I don’t know if that’s the usual way to eat it, but it was so good I still dream about it. Paired with a glass of elderflower juice and a side of bacon and eggs, it was nothing short of scrumptious. If you’re staying at Hotel Plesnik, I highly recommend dining at their restaurant because not only is their food amazing, but if you plan on eating elsewhere, you’ll have a considerable drive ahead of you unless you’re looking to try some fresh milk or meat products from a nearby vending machine (stocked by local farmers with cheeses, meats, ice cream, yogurt, and more!). This is the type of place where it’s worth waking up as soon as the sun rises just to enjoy the serenity of the view or to take a peaceful stroll as the mist settles in the valley. Returning from our morning adventures, we were sad to check out because we wished we could have stayed longer. The location was stunning, the staff were lovely, the room was charming, the food was great, and the wellness center was truly memorable. I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary if you’re looking for a rejuvenating stay surrounded by the power and beauty of nature. Happy travels and enjoy your adventure! Cheers, Chloë

  • Villa Majda: A Romantic Escape in Slovenia’s Osp Village with Stunning Views and Luxurious Comfort

Something that strikes me about Slovenia is how romantic it is… Rolling picturesque hills lead to sprawling vineyards (with some areas even cradled by the lull of the ocean). Everywhere I went, I found myself entranced by the gentle gestures of the land, as if I were being personally invited by the sights, supple songs, and flavors to have a more intimate view of its beauty. One place, however, that reminded me of romance in every moment was my lovely stay at Villa Majda . Villa Majda is nestled right on the outskirts of the village of Osp, an area known for its vineyards and olive trees. Not far from the coast, this countryside spot boasts rolling hills and gorgeous nature, including the garden right outside of Villa Majda. Driving up, you’re greeted by gates leading toward the main building, where you can also find an outdoor pool and seating to soak in the Mediterranean climate. Although my stay there was brief, it was still lovely for many reasons. Upon checking in, you walk alongside the front of the building toward the pool and take the first door to the left (where the indoor bar counter is, in case you have trouble finding it or it isn’t clearly marked). On the main floor, you’ll find the dining area (prepared with fresh, locally grown ingredients), and after walking through that, there are stairs leading to the upper floors where you’ll find the rooms. On this trip, I was hoping to leave feeling relaxed, and it looks like I found just that. The first thing I noticed about our room was the large bed, followed by the luxurious bathroom (with a shower big enough to fit two!). Heavenly-smelling luxurious soaps and lotions lined the counters, and the towels were not only soft but generously sized (which is something I don’t see often). For reference, we stayed in the Superior Double 45 room. The decor was reminiscent of the Istrian surroundings, and I thought that the ceiling-to-floor curtains (which led to windows that opened to a view) were a lovely touch. I could easily see why this place would be considered for wedding receptions or getaways, and based on the music I could hear in the evening, I think people were doing just that (or perhaps had found another nearby spot to celebrate… Congrats to the newlyweds). Thankfully, we are heavy sleepers and it didn’t bug us too much! Knowing me, I had to give the pool a test (and it was a fun yet freezing way to start my day), but I think my favorite thing about it was how stunning it looked backed by the vines that climbed the building beside it. I can see how, on warmer days, it would be a great spot for a dip to escape the heat from the weather or room. Breakfast was a treat (you could taste how fresh the ingredients were), and our waitress was quick to make sure we had everything we could ask for and more. I would have loved to try dinner there and think I’ll have to add this to my list for the future! Overall, it was a lovely stay, and I can see myself returning here for some rest and escape from the bustle of the nearby town streets. It was a strong way to kick off my road trip around Slovenia, and I’m happy to have experienced it. Happy travels and enjoy your adventure! Cheers, Chloë
